This Ricoh Printer Driver Tutorial will guide you step by step through the best way to change the IP Address Ricoh Printer driver when printing using an Windows computer.
You will need to have already downloaded and installed the Ricoh printer driver from the website.
In this guide, we will be using the Ricoh MPC6502 as the example, please follow this guide using your own Ricoh printer model in place of the example at Step 2.
STEP 1 – Opening Devices and Printers
Click on the Windows icon (usually bottom left corner), then without clicking anywhere else, type in “printers”, the search bar will automatically show multiple results, Click on “Devices and Printers” from the list.
STEP 2 – Open the Printer Properties
Ricoh click on the Ricoh printer you want to change the default properties for and choose [Printer properties] from the list.
STEP 3 – Advanced
The Printer Properties will open in the ‘General’ tab, if you choose the [Ports] tab at the top of this screen, choose [Add Port…] at the bottom of the page to add the new IP details.
STEP 4 – New Port
Choose ‘Standard TCP/IP Port’ and click [New Port]. This will open the ‘Add Standard TCP/IP Printer Port Wizard’.
STEP 4 – Add Printer Wizard
When the wizard opens, click [Next].
STEP 5 – Enter IP Address
Enter your IP address in the top box ‘Printer Name or IP Address: ‘ as you enter the IP address, the lower box ‘Port Name: ‘ will automatically enter the same address, if you already have that address entered, you will see an ‘_1’ at the end of the address in the lower ‘Port Name: ‘ box.
Click [Next >]
Please note the example below shows the IP Address of our printer (193.168.0.76), please use your printers IP Address, this will be different to the address shown below.
STEP 6 – Detecting Port
You will now see the ‘Detecting Port’ screen, this will take a few seconds.
STEP 6 – Finish
The screen should automatically refresh and show the ‘Completing’ page, click [Finish] to complete the process.
If you see anything other than the below window, see the ‘Fail’ note at the end of this guide.
STEP 7 – Close the Window
You will now be returned to the ‘Printer Ports’ window, click [Close]
STEP 8 – Apply & Close
The new port should now be showing in the window with a Tick in the box next to the address, you can now apply the settings by clicking [Apply] in the bottom right, and then close the window by clicking [Close].
Notes – If Step 6 Fails
If you get the below window instead of the complete window in step 6 then something is not correct. Check the following possible causes:
The Printer is not connected to the network (faulty / unplugged cable)
The Printer is Switched Off (turn on)
The IP Address is incorrect (check IP address)
Your network does not allow two way traffic due to security settings (choose a Ricoh Type C Device Type and click next and see if you can print).
