Setting up a Ricoh printer driver using

InceptionPrinter.local

Inception has created a standard set of printer drivers that will give most users access to printer features for the Ricoh photocopiers. This printer driver is designed to work when your printer is set on the network to DHCP and has a network name of ‘InceptionPrinter.local‘. If you are unsure if your printer is set to InceptionPrinter.local, you can follow the instructions below to check / set your printer to InceptionPrinter.local

Check your Ricoh Printer/MFD is set to ‘InceptionPrinter.local’ as a network name.

Every item on your network has its own name (network/host name) and address (IP Address). Traditionally, printing to the IP Address has been the most reliable way, however as many networks now support DHCP (the giving out of an automatic address), if this address changes, users may no longer be able to print. Additionally, using the correct driver for the printer, is essential to getting the correct format when you print.

Below is a process to check, and if necessary, set your Ricoh printer to have a network name of InceptionPrinter.local – this will allow the above printer driver to print to your Ricoh Printer, using its host name, instead of its IP Address.

This document assumes that the Ricoh printer is set to the factory default. If you are unsure, please speak to your organisations IT team, or a member of Inception.

Once you have changed the printer name using the below instructions, you can download and install the windows printer drivers for black and white, and colour using the above links
